Editorial independence and interests
Sponsors and paid listings keep Behind the Bank free. This page sets out what they buy, and what they never buy.
What sponsors never get
- Sponsors never preview, approve or influence editorial.
- No sponsor ever gets placement in, or a better score from, The Scout.
- No bank sponsors an issue that analyses that bank.
- Research underwriters get logo rights only. We own the methodology and the conclusions.
- No crypto or high-risk retail-finance sponsors at launch.
Labelling
- Every sponsored unit in an issue is labelled "Sponsored" or "Presented by".
- If an issue covers a sponsor, we disclose it at the end of that issue.
- Paid listings in the Vendor Library carry a visible Sponsored label.
Vendor Library rankings
Vendor rankings come only from reader ratings, using a weighted average so a handful of votes can't top the table. Paying for a listing adds a Sponsored label and a fuller profile. It never changes a vendor's rank, score or position, and it never affects what we write.
Conflicts
We do not accept sponsorship, report underwriting or event hosting from current clients of the people who write Behind the Bank, from active pursuits, or from clients of the past 12 months. Each deal is checked against a private register before signing. Where a conflict exists we recuse or disclose.
Information hygiene
Public sources only. No client or employer material and no material non-public information in any issue, database or event. No allegations about named individuals. No investment advice.
Corrections
If we get something wrong, we fix it and log it here with the date and what changed. Reply to any issue or email hello@behindthebank.com.
